I thoroughly enjoyed that reading... Although I'd like to pose a question... You were talkin about the promised suffering being what He offers that we may have life... I agree with that... but you also said that He does not offer us power? Did you mean that strictly in a worldly sense?

Yeshua has put all powers and principalities under His feet. Hasn't He made us co-heirs to the kingdom? Then, are not we to grow in our identity and Him, that we may walk in His resurrection power after die to ourselves in order to be used mightily in the Spirit?

Hello Mark and Duncan.
What a great blog. I just read Get Behind me Satan.
It is very encouraging to read what you are saying here and clearly what has been put on your heart to say to others.
God so loves us and is challenging us to give up our very lives to follow Him, day by day. To experience His resurrection life we must be more than just willing to include Him in our lives. Much more than that. We must allow Him to live through us and to order our very existence down the most minute details. And as you rightly put it, it will cost us absolutely everything, homes, friends, family, jobs, money, reputation and our very life itself. But the great thing is that when we seek first His kingdom and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33), He can restore back these things to us in His time and in correct order. But that is His prerogative and only He knows when we are ready to receive back things He asked us to give up and when we will be able to use them wisely.
When we are living in submission to The King, we will possess His authority, discover His heart and be a great living testimony to win the lost, living a life of integrity without hypocrisy and without double standards, because we will be vessels of honour, available for His use as He decides.
And the best thing of all, is that in Kingdom living, we will be richer in many senses of the word, because we will become mature and Godly men and women, able to enjoy the blessings of God and able to live as Paul described in Philippians 4:12, but always putting the Giver first before the gifts. And we can always grateful for mercies, small or large for His mercies.
And better still, able to thank Him in every situation, because Jesus will have made us beautiful for every situation and we will know Him in every situation.
All this and much more, just because we give it all up for Him.
Is this easy? No. I am learning this at personal cost concerning things dear to me, but Eternal living is the best and I could not trade it for the world. And I desire that everyone else can experience Abundant living. This is not Christian armchair living! This is living out our faith out loud and out there, taking risks and getting hurt, falling over and getting up again. And always having a God who loves us and will never leave us or abandon us. Eternal life is abundant life, a life with depth and breadth and with a richness beyond measure.
It is a process, but it starts with a hunger to know Jesus more and an availability to let Him show us.
You were correct about attributing the reference to C.S.Lewis by the way. It comes from his book, Mere Christianity.
Thank you again for your blogs. You have blessed me.
God Bless you.
